Like register 0x04 of DS90UB914, 0000 represents -16.5db and 0001 represents -19db.

Hello,

Are you asking because you are trying to find the best settings for your system? I would recommend that the channel be tested with the Margin Analysis tool available in ALP to find the best AEQ settings. A good resource on how to use the tool is the app note that can be found here https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/snlu243/snlu243.pdf?&ts=1588889205813. It will not give you actual gain values for the AEQ but it will help to find the best setting for the most robust operation of the link.
