Hi,

my customer would like to build a dock with several USB type C connector.

There will be a POS and an adaptor which may connect to the dock.

When the POS is attached to the dock, POS will charge the dock.

When adaptor is attached to the dock, the adaptor will charge the dock.

But when both adaptor and POS are attached, the adaptor will charge the dock, but the dock will charge the POS instead of being charged by the POS.

I wonder if TPS65988 could achieve such function. The competitor is VL102.

Hi, the sketch map is shown below:

there is no battery on the dock. POS will be connected to the dock through one type C cable 1, adaptor will be connected to the dock through cable 2.

When only POS attached to the dock, POS will supply 5V to the dock through cable 1.

As soon as the adaptor is connected to the dock, the dock will be powered by adaptor with 9V, and the POS will be supplied by this 9V through the same cable 1.

If it's not achievable, we can also make the POS output 9V to supply the dock.

Hello Howard,

Let me summarize the requirements.

1. POS shall power Dock if PA is not connected.

2. PA shall power Dock whenever its connected to Port2.

3. POS connected first and PA connected later; PA shall power the Dock and POS (after PR_swap).

4. PA connected first and POS connected later; Port 1 shall be Src if PA is connected to Dock.

Yes, this is solution is achievable with TPS65988 .

yes, it's exactly what you described here.

In POS, they are MTK platform and the PMU has integrated USB PD controller.

So we may need TPS65988 or TPS65987 in the dock.
