Can you provide the maximum junction temperature? I need that info to apply derating. Ambient temperature is not enough. It is concerning for an IC to not have a maximum junction temperature listed when you provide the thermal resistance values to calculate the junction temperature per application.

    Hi,

    The reason for specifying the Ambient temperature spec is primarily driven by level of control available during device characterization.

    Junction temperature is difficult to measure & control as it has to factor in the power dissipation of the part which again varies due to voltage range, process corner and  board layout techniques.

    You have to use the package thermal charateristic and expected power dissipation for your application to derive the maximum junction temperature.
