TS3DV642: Can TS3DV642 pass HDMI2.0 TDR test?

Part Number: TS3DV642

We are considering to use the TS3DV642 on HDMI 2.0 port (Sink).

According to past threads, some users have failed the HDMI 2.0 TDR (Hot TDR) test with this device.

e.g)

e2e.ti.com/.../1983167

I can't read from these threads whether the issue could be resolved because the thread's communication has shifted to direct mail.

So can TS3DV642 pass the HDMI 2.0 TDR test?

  • Hi,

HDMI2.0 TDR test is a system test, so a properly designed board needs to retain a 100-Ω differential impedance through the switch. When designing in TS3DV642, you need to take its Ron into account when specifying the PCB differential trace impedance.

Alternatively, you can place a redriver/retimer at the output of the TS3DV642 as a way to block the TS3DV642 Ron effect.

    Thanks

    David
