TPS65987D: Does the device soft-reset itself if some problems happen?

Part Number: TPS65987D

Hi team

Does the device soft reset itself if some problems (such like FW crash or hanging) happen?

In our test environment we found CC sometimes shows High-Z for about 10ms which is expected to be Pull-up.

And the problem can't be reproduced stably ( failure happens about 1/300)

so we think maybe it just resets itself because of some internal problems?

Is there any triggers for soft reset like that ?

Thanks

Yu

  • Hi Yu,

Yes, PD controller will go to error recovery if it hits fault conditions like Over current, Over/Under voltage, Thermal issues...

May i know more about your test case?

    Thanks

  • Hi Prajith

    Thanks for your answer.

Our case is a little complicated to be explained simply...

I am trying to figure out the exact failure trigger condition.

Let me tell you details after that.

Is there a list of TPS65987D's known fault conditions or any documents describe TPS65987D's  behavior during error recovery?

    Thanks

    Yu

  • Hi Yu,

Yeah, it should be hard to repro' the issue as the fail rate it very low.

I can answer it in a better way if you can give brief of your test setup. I believe that your device is Src, Is the load within the limit? Is this related to Voltage/ current transition?

    Tnx
