DS90UB954-Q1: Design help

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB960-Q1, DS90UB964-Q1, DS90UB962-Q1

Hi sir,

I have some inquiries on this device.

1. I would like to know if DS90UB954-Q1 can be used for 3 or 4 camera application.

According to DS90UB954-Q1 datasheet :

MIPI DPHY Version 1.2 / CSI-2 Version 1.3

Compliant

– CSI-2 Output Ports

– Supports 1, 2, 3, 4 Data Lanes

– CSI-2 Data Rate Scalable for 400 Mbps / 800

Mbps / 1.5 Gbps / 1.6 Gbps each Data Lane

– Programmable Data Types

– Four Virtual Channels

– ECC and CRC Generation

2. for camera, can we use MAX9271for FPD –linking sending side but for  DS90UB954-Q1 for deserializer ?

MAX9271

16 bit GMSL serial device, with coaxial or STP cable drive, highly reliable 1.5gbps serial device, flexible drive on coaxial cable or STP transmission line, 5mm x 5mm small size package.

Thank u for your help in advance.

Regards,

  • Dear Mark,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

    To answer your questions:

    1. DS90UB954-Q1 has 2 x FPD Link III inputs, therefore you cannot connect more than 2 cameras to it
      1. Independently, CSI output can be configure to up to 4 lanes, this is only related to the connection to the downstream device (typically a SoC)
      2. Virtual channels can be (re)assigned to the video streams, ID range from 0 to 3, but again, this is only related to the CSI output stream.
      3. DS90UB960-Q1 / DS90UB962-Q1 or DS90UB964-Q1 are the right devices for single chip, 4 cameras connection.
    2. FPD Link devices are NOT compatible with GMSL devices
      1. you need to select an FPD Link based camera/equipment

    Best regards

  • Great!

    very helpful.

    thank u so much.
