TCA6416A: No pull-up resistor in Reset pin

Part Number: TCA6416A

Hi Team,

I am posting this on behalf of our customer.

The design of our customer has no pull-up resistor on the RESET input on many already produced boards and wanted to know whether it will cause the TCA6416A not working or can work just current leakage happened or other effects to cause fail?

They directly connect the Reset input to VCCI to never pulled low their application.

Please let me know if you have any questions with the customer.

Thanks,

Jonathan

  • Hey Jonathan,

The reset pin of this devices feeds into a series ESD cell and then a CMOS gate input. The series ESD cell has a resistor in the 100s of ohm range used to protect the gates from a surge of inrush current upon power up. I don't expect any damage or severe leakage current from tying the reset directly to VCCI. As long as you aren't yanking the input voltage above/below the absolute maximum ratings for the device, you should be fine.
