PCA9306: I want know the work status when the Vref1=Vdpu=3.3V

Part Number: PCA9306

I used this part PCA9306 in my design, the connect is same as this diagram.

my board have 2 version,

version 1, Vref1=1.8V, according to the datasheet, this part PCA9306 can work normally.

version 2, Vref1=3.3V ( which is equal Vdpu ), can this part PCA9306 work normally?

I suppose it should be okay. Can you help confirm it?

if it can't work normally, can you help suggest a part to me?

  • Hello,

Yes, the device will work normally with VREF1 = 3.3 V and VREF2/EN pulled to 3.3 V.  This will have a small impact on the propagation delays, since the lack of headroom between VREF1 and VREF2 means that the SDA/SCL voltages would need to drop ~600 mV below VREF1 before the switch channels conduct.  I generally wouldn't expect this to introduce any issues with respect to I2C communication, though.

If you have any further questions please let us know.
