SN65LV1023A: LVDS SERIALIZER / DESERIALIZER with Asynchronous Data

Part Number: SN65LV1023A

Hi,

I'm looking into using SN65LV1023A 10 bit serializer in my design to reduce the number of interconnects between two PCB assemblies. The parallel data I'm sending has low data rate (<< TCLK, TCLK = 24MHz). But, the data is asynchronous relative to TCLK.

My question is; should I use external FlipFlops to sync the data to TCLK? or just rely on the device to latch the data internally?

In both cases I can't guarantee setup and hold times.

Thanks,

J
