TPS65983: HV Gate Control Supply

Hi Team,

Currently looking into an OCP  issue causing ext. MOS damage, just want to double check what is HV Gate Control Supply source?

Customer found the gate control voltage 20V didn't fully turn off and keep retry, and I want to understand which supply rail is HV Gate Control reference to, thanks!

    Hi Andrew,

    Can you tell me if this is TPS65983B? What FW is this and which Intel TBT reference design is this based on? The TPS65983B in powered by either Vin3v3 or from Vbus.

    Hi Scott,

    It's 65983B, my bad.

    Power is by Vin3v3.

    And  we just modify the FET Timeout to min, hope this would work.

    By the way, customer wants to know if any GPIO pin can do event setting to for OCP?

    If yes, may I know the detail GUI settings?

    Hi Andrew,

    Can you check the device firmware version used? My answer depends on this information

    If the FW has a version like 6.xx, then the TPS65983B device should be based on one of the official Intel TBT reference designs. Can you check that the customer implemented the layout based on the reference? Please let me know the name of the reference used.

    Hi Scott,

    Customer follows Intel Apex Creek CH - Base Reference Design, Rev 2.2

    The GUI we use below.

    So far this problem can be fixed by setting FET Timer to min, MOS can withstand this OCP energy now.
