TPS65988DJ: MRESET high/low chosen in Titan Ridge AIC project

Hi Sir,

Customer want to build up their 988 TR project. There're Titan Ridge AIC Active high/low reference design. Can we know what's difference between the two project? I don't see MRESET signal on IC or reference design circuit?

Hi Gary,

We use some of the features of the GUI to implement MRESET. If you look at the project "MRESET" is GPIO2, where it is configured to load a different data set to control the RESET GPIO0. You will see the difference in 0x6C register for both options.

This tool is mainly for the Intel Designs, use the 6.2.8 for new TBT host development.You can import the changes from the 5.24 to 6.2.8 tool.

Hi Jacob,

1. Yes I see different about 0x6c in the two pjts. If customer will build up their pjt for docking product, they can choose any of the two projects or need to confirm it with Intel?

2. I don't have 6.28 GUI. Can I know where I can get that?

Hi Gary,

1. For a Thunderbolt Device, the Tapex Creek template must be used. This is in the 5.24 tool. All of the other templates are reserved for Thunderbolt Host applications.

BTW, so if customer don't use GPIO2 for MRESET function, any reference (TR AIC active high/low) they choose is the same right? Or you mean all TBT device must select Tapex Creek as reference deisgn? xxx creek is for device and xxx ridge is for host?

Hi Gary,

When MRESET is set low or not used, use the Active Low project.

Tapex Creek is for Device.

AIC is for Host
