DS100BR210: IBIS AMI model queries: How to use Sparameter file

Hello,

I have received IBIS-AMI model DS100BR210. I can see there are several S parameter files as below.

1. tx_termination.s4p and rx_termination.s4p: Is these S-parameter act as termination for IBIS model?

2. repeater_pkg.s4p: Is this package S-parameter file the same for transmitter and receiver both?

Please see schematic, Have I done modelling correctly?

I'm using hyperlinx tool for simulation. Please see the simulation waveform. Rise/fall time is very fast ie. ~1ps. Is this normal?

Hi Rahul.

1. These s-parameter files are used to terminate the input and convey Rx and Tx non-ideal behavior due to added parasitic L and C in the package and design.

2. The package is symmetric - it is the same for Rx and Tx.

1ps is extremely quick. This is not normal. Where are you measuring the signal. Typically we use a IBIS-AMI Tx provided with the simulation tool for the input stimulus. Does Hyperlynx have a generic Tx?

Hello Lee,

Im measuring at pin. I'm finally using IBIS-AMI simulation to generate eye.

While simulating using IBIS-AMI model, the AMI model need termination s parameter file name.

Please see below modelling. My question is do I need to include termination s-parameter and package s-parameter as shown below? Or will AMI model will invoke these two files ?
