AM26C31: application in Motor

Hi Team,

Just a general question.

Customer feedback that AM26C31 seems easily get damaged when used for motion card connecting with servo driver through differential line driver. However, AM26LS31 test is good, didn't get damaged.

So customer wants to understand if we know anypossibility AM26LS31 can be better to fit in Motor application than AM26C31 ?

    I'm not afraid there is not a straightforward answer here. Do you know the cause of the failure? These two devices have similar ESD rating. AM26LS31 output has the abs max 5.5V while that of AM26C31 is -0.5V to 7V. Maybe the characterization of the disturbance on the bus is unique that triggers AM26C31 but not AM26LS31. Another speculation is that if over current flows into the device, sometimes the old device built on bipolar process has wider metal and can stand larger current. If it's not possible to capture the failure waveform, you may want to send the parts for FA.
