About TXD and RXD signal in the CAN Transceiver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1043-Q1

Hi all,

I know that TX signal is "sending signal", RX signal is "receiving signal", but why RXD signal goes down after TXD signal went down with propagation time.

Thank you

  • Gary,

The RXD pin is constantly reading back with the CANH and CANL pins monitor on the CAN bus. Since TXD transmits to the CAN bus, the RXD pin will reflect that same data back with the delay attributed to the signal propagating through the transceiver. It is in this way that the CAN protocol can also detect errors during its own transmission, or detect if it has lost arbitration. If the controller sees different data than what it knows to be transmitting, than that is flagged as an error or loss during arbitration.

    Regards,
