XIO2001: REFx_PCIE port has damaged

Hello E2E,

Our customer is using the XIO2001 for current product. However, the XIO2001 frequently gets corrupted that has damaged on REFx_PCIE ports.

Questions;
- Does TI know of similar cases? and, what is the cause?
- If ESD is the cause, is it possible to add an ESD protection device on REFx_PCIE ports?

Hello-

We have not seen similar reports.

The REF0_PCIE and REF1_PCIE pins should only be connected to external resistors. Did the damage occur during normal SMT process or board rework?

That was occured dur using by end user. That application was shipped out in one year ago.
There are numerous returns from end customers.

Are the REF0_PCIE and REF1_PCIE pins exposed to the end users? Normally, they should not be.
