TCAN1042HGV: Low temperature PIN3 Burn

Part Number: TCAN1042HGV

Hi team,

My customer met Pin3 Burned issue in low temperature tests.

   1. Failure happened during PP, failure rate 10/20, all chips' PIN3 are burned.

   2. In room temp, communication is normal, but when the temp decreased to -25℃, the communication was abnormal. And Pin 3 was burned, shown in below pic.

   3. Replace the failure chip with a good one in room temp, the communication works normal again.

   4. SCH is also shown as below, I/O was 3.3V.

What's the possible reason for PIN 3 burn in low temp, any risk in customer's design?

  • Hi Holly,

The customer's implementation of TCAN1042 looks OK to me.

Would it be possible to monitor the voltage on POW_5V during the testing to see if it has any unintended overshoots as the temperature reduces?

Also, would you please provide a higher-resolution photo of the problem ICs or other undamaged ones from the same package?  (The ones in the photo look a little strange to me.)
