SN65DSI86: what is the correct training method should we use ?

Part Number: SN65DSI86

Hi ,

In our custom board, we put redriver between SN65DIS86 and DP connector .

So,

1. What training method should we use ?  ( redriver semi-auto or semi-auto )

2. If we use semi-auto,  how to come out the correct TX_SWING ,  PRE_EMPHASIS , POST_CURSOR2   value ?

Best,

Andy

You should use the redriver semi-auto link training. It is important to train the DisplayPort link between the SN65DSI86 and the redriver to one setting and training the link between the redriver and the eDP panel to a different setting. Redriver Semi-Auto Link training is essentially the same as Semi-Auto Link training with one major difference. That difference is Redriver Semi-Auto Link Training will never change the DP_TX_SWING, DP_PRE_EMPHASIS, and DP_POST_CURSOR2 levels being driven by the SN65DSI86. These settings will always stay fixed to their programmed values. The SN65DSI86 will still send all aux requests to the eDP panel DPCD registers. The redriver will snoop these aux transactions and train the link between it and the eDP panel.

    Thanks
