TPS65982: Why HRST doesn't reset 0x29 Control Configuration register to default state?

Hi folks,

thanx for support.

I have 0x29 Control Configuration register is set to ProcessSwapToSink and InitiateSwapToSink. My software removes InitiateSwapToSink while it's performing a power management. After USBC port has been disconnected the software issues HRST to get PD controller defaulted. Software is reading HRST command result to get that HRST has been done. But being connected with Aardvark in Debug Mode I see that InitiateSwapToSink hasn't been set again like in default state.

What's the reason?

Could you try "Gaid" command instead?

Yes, you're right.

Using Aardvark and TI Application Customization Tool in Debug Mode I disabled some field options in 0x29 register and afetr issuing Gaid I was observing that the options had been returned as they're in default state.

It solves my issue. Thank you very much.

P.S. Prajith, could you tell what's a purpose of HRST usage? Key differences between it and Gaid?

Hi,

Gaid is for restart of PD controller and HRST is for issuing PD hard reset.
