MAX3243: Vcc decoupling cap maximum

Part Number: MAX3243

Hello expert,

May I know if there is maximum for Vcc decoupling cap? Since I only see 0.1uF cap for Vcc pin in datasheet but my customer is using 0.1uF+1uF on Vcc pin. I would like to know if there is any risk on charge pump. Thanks a lot!!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Hi Ann,

It is OK to use larger capacitances on VCC.  This won't directly influence the charge pump behavior since this is the input to the charge pump (rather than the "flying" capacitor used to transfer charge or the "storage" capacitor used to hold it on V+ or V-).

    Regards,
    Max
