TCAN4550-Q1: High low temperature issue

Part Number: TCAN4550-Q1

Customer reported the waveform is abnormal when the temperature degrades from 85 to only 50, and the communication is interrupted, waveforms are as below, the last one is normal waveform, could you please help? Thanks.

  • Hi Wayne,

The waveform is labelled CANL, but from the voltage levels it looks more like CANH to me.  Can you please confirm?

In the problem waveform it looks like there is an extended dominant-to-recessive transition time.  The most common explanation for this is a lack of termination.  Is it possible that there is a poor connection from the termination resistances to the PCB, and as temperature varies sometimes the connection is lost?

    Regards,
