XIO2001: Can this part be used on a PCI add-in card?

Part Number: XIO2001

The XIO2001 supports an external arbiter and accepts an external clock. Can it be used in a downstream PCI add-in card, to act as bridge between the PCI bus on the edge connector and a modern MCU with a single lane PCIe interface?

Hi Fred,

The XIO2001 is only capable of bridging PCI and PCIe with the PCIe link going to the host system. It is not possible to bridge from PCI and have the XIO2001 be the host PCIe device.

Two more questions:

1. So TI has no cross for the Diodes Inc. PI7C9X111SL PCI Express-to-PCI Reversible Bridge?

2. Out of curiosity, what's the point of support for an External Arbiter then (9.2.1.2.1.5 of the data sheet) - two XIO2001 devices on same motherboard?
