DS90UB935-Q1: Serializer Forward Channel Data Rate

Part Number: DS90UB935-Q1

What is meant by back channel as reference source in non-synchronous external clock mode? Does that mean f = 2*Back channel rate or 20 MHz (10 Mbps is the recommended back channel data rate in this mode)? Or is 'f' the frequency of the external oscillator?

  • Hello Santosh,

Thank you for identifying this typo - we will note it down for updating in the next datasheet revision. In non-synchronous mode the back channel does not serve as the reference clock, however in non-synchronous mode the max recommended back channel speed is 10Mbps

The external CLKIN to 953 in non-synchronous mode is 50MHz with CLKIN_DIV = 1 which sets the forward channel speed as 4Gbps, however the CLKIN frequency can be anywhere within the range in the table for the two different CLKIN_DIV settings based on the desired forward channel speed

    Best Regards,
    Casey

  • Hi Casey,

On a related topic, is CLK_OUT available in Non-synchronous Internal Clock Mode? In Table 6 above, it says n/a but the diagram below shows it as available.

  • Hello Santosh,

This is a generic block diagram showing multiple clocking modes, not just internal AON clock mode. For internal AON clock mode, the CLKOUT functionality is not available (see datasheets section 7.4.1.3)

    Best Regards,

    Casey
