DS90UB940N-Q1: AC coupling cap --> required to be the same value as the other side of the link ?

Dear team,

I was wondering if the AC coupling cap we recommend for 940N - 33nF to 100nF should have the same value on the serializer side.

In my case, I am facing a 949 with 33nF on the serializer board and wonder if I can keep the 100nF on my 940N based deserializer board, or if I should change to 33nF.

My 2 questions:

  1. should I change to 33nF? - and why ?
  2. What would be the risk of keeping 100nF (if it has any impact)?

Many thanks in advance!

Best regards,

PA

  • Hi PA,

Yes, the AC caps need to be same on the Ser and Des side.

You need to change either the Ser side or Des side to have the same value.

If they are in different values, there's an impact on FPD-Link channel performance.

    Best Regards,
