AM26LS31: unused inputs

Part Number: AM26LS31

The AM26LS31 data sheet doesn't say what to do with unused inputs.  Is it OK to leave them open or do they need to be connected to Vcc or ground?  If they need to be connected to Vcc or ground, can they be connected directly or should they go through a resistor?

Thanks,

Brian

  • Hi Brian,

I'd recommend biasing the logic inputs (G, /G, 1A, 2A, etc.) to a known state by tying them high or low.  This is a general best practice for logic inputs and helps to minimize quiescent current consumption and prevent errant toggling of corresponding outputs based on coupled noise.  The biasing could be accomplished via either a direct connection to VCC or GND or use of a pull-up or pull-down resistances.

Unused outputs (Y/Z) pins can be left open.

    Regards,
    Max
