Hi Team,
HPD_SNK and SCL_SNK may have been damaged by the surge application.
Although the recommended circuit is referenced, there are no countermeasure components on the line.
What kind of ESD protection is effective?
Best Regards,
Kenji

Hi Kenji,
Welcome to E2E!
When looking for an ESD device it is important to understand the transient events that a device needs to protect against. The TVSxxx family of devices offer high protection against surge/lighting events with a high IEC 61000-4-5 surge rating. The other ESD devices in our portfolio protect against shorter ESD events that are tested per the IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection standard. To learn mode about the standards that our device are tested against please refer to the following application note: IEC 61000-4-x Testsfor TI’s Protection Devices
If you believe the damaged was caused by a surge event I would suggest with going with one of our TVSxxx devices. Does your application handle bi-polar signals for which it needs a bi-directional surge protection device or uni-directional? What would be the working voltage range?
Best regards,
Andy Robles
