DP83825I: Driver for Linux Kernel 3.10

Hi Team,

I am promoting DP83825 for my customer. They decided to test this device in their system. Their system is old version of Linux (KERNEL version 3.10), while the driver on our web site is for newer version. It is difficult for them to port the new version to their old version. So i am wondered can we provide the driver for old Linux version 3.10?

Hi,

Linux drivers are normally portable and expect customer to perform the port themself. We shall be able to help incase they run into any integration issue.

Is it easy to port from newer version to elder version? Engineer told me that our driver for Linux Kernel 5.8 call some system functions which is not exist in elder version of Linux. They typically use device vendor's driver. If we cannot provide driver i am afraid we will lost this opportunity.

HI,

We had updated the driver with the DP83825 and DP83826 PHY IDs.

The customer should either merge this branch to their kernel or they can cherry pick these commits from the bottom to the top in order.
