MC3486: MC3486

Part Number: MC3486
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM26C32, AM26LV32E

Hello

I want to buy this IC to read data from the Encoder. I am designing a schematice and pcb for my project so i want to know which component should add between encoder to MC3486 an between output pin to MCU.

i read a lot of pag about my question but i need your suggestions.

for example some people add a resistor 100 OHm to 120 OHm between ( A and A-) but i saw the other please share here a sutible schematice file it is very better for us.

how can I decrease the level of 5 volt output to 3.3to connect MCU.

best regards

  • Hi,

First of all, this app note is a good resource for many common questions.

The purpose of applying termination resistors is to match cable impedance and reduce signal reflection. This practice is highly recommended especially in high speed and long distance applications.

3.3V and 5V RS-485 transceivers can be deployed on the same bus. Here is the detailed discussion.

If you're interested, TI has some other options for quadruple receivers, like AM26C32, AM26LV32E. You can browse the choice here.
