SN65HVD485E: better alternative? Replacing EOL DS3696N

Posting on behalf of my customer.

"We replaced the TI DS3696N with a SN65HDV485EP but I believe the Fail Safe for the RX Output high when RX Input open circuit is causing undesired consequences.

We have found if we put two 20K resistor on pins 5&7, 6&8 it fixed issue, but that is a lot of rework

I know there is no 100% drop-in that is form, fit, function, but is there a better choice than SN65HVD485E with same pinout (N package) for DS3696N without the Fail Safe for the RX Output high when RX Input open circuit?"
