THVD2450: Connect DE and RE together?

Part Number: THVD2450

Hi,

i've got a question regarding the direct connection of the driver enable pin "DE" and the receiver enable pin "RE", which is active low.
I'm planning to short these pins together, when connecting them to my MCU to use only one pin, switching between tx and rx.

The datasheet says, there is an internal pull-down at the DE pin. Sadly, there is no information about the internal connection of the RE pin.

My question is: is the connection of those two pins possible or may I expect undesired behaviour/leakage currents when connecting them both together?

Sincerely

Daniel

  • Daniel,

The REB pin has an internal pull up. It's common to short the REB and DE pins in applications. The MCU usually drives this combined control logic to either high or low. The internal weak pull up/down (in mega Ohms) can be easily overridden.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,

    Hao
