TCAN4550: Compatibility with power rail

Part Number: TCAN4550

Is there any way to run the TCAN4550 on our 3.3V power rail, rather than the vehicle battery supply? If not, are there other TCAN devices you would suggest?

  • Hey Zoe,

It would not be possible to run the TCAN4550 at 3.3V, at a minimum it needs 6V to pass the initial turn on threshold. If you ran it at 3.3V it would be stuck in sleep mode.

If you are not using this device for automotive spec, there are many CAN transceivers that run on 3.3V. You can find them here.

If you need an automotive spec CAN transceiver here are 6 that will take 3.3V. You can find them here.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Best,

    Chris
