DS90UB913A-Q1: Ser Mode selection and Clarificaition on Forward and Back Channel Terminology

Part Number: DS90UB913A-Q1

Hi,

I am using my camera sensor with DS90UB913A-Q1 serializer in parallel format (using HSYNC, VSYSC, PCLK and DATA). Below are my queries.

1) My camera sensor outputs a 10 bit image (PCLK is connected from Camera Sensor to the Serializer). Which registers should I set in the serializer and what shall be its value ?
2) Could you please clear out what exactly does TI mean by "Forward Channel" and "Back Channel". I think "Forward Channel= Communication from Ser to DeSer" & "Back Channel= Communication from DeSer to Ser". Is this correct ??

Thank You.

  • Hi Khilav,

    1. In this case, you want to put 913A into 10 bit mode. You can do this by strapping the correct MODE from the deserializer side. The deserializer will automatically configure the 913A into 10bit mode once the strap is set.

    2. Yes, forward channel is always communication from Ser to Des which may contain video data, GPIO/I2C, and other control data. Back channel is communication from Des to Ser which contains control, GPIO, and I2C data.
