SN75LVCP601: impedance

Part Number: SN75LVCP601

Hi team,

It can be seen that SN75LVCP601 datasheet has parameters of differential impedance (min 85Ω max 122 Ω, typ 100 Ω) and single-ended impedance (min 40 Ω).

My question is that SATA is a differential signal and must be designed according to differential impedance. What is the significance of single-ended impedance? Under what circumstances will this single-ended impedance be used? Or in the design of differential lines, it is necessary to meet the requirements that the differential impedance is 100 and the single-ended impedance of each line is greater than 40 Ω?

Best Regards,
Amy Luo

  • Hi Amy,

There is testing for single-ended and differential in the datasheet.  We test both ways to ensure the device quality.  The SATA specification will rely on the differential termination values.

It is expected that most PCB transmission line stuctures will be between 40-50 Ohms single-ended and 100 Ohms differentially.

    Regards,

    Lee
