MDIO Level translation from 3.3V to 2.5V

Hi,

Can you suggest an IC for MDIO Level translation from 3.3V (MAC Side) to 2.5V (PHY Side).

I found one with part number PCA9306DCTR in stock with us which was used for I2C application in another project. But looking at the datasheet we learnt that it can be used for 2.5V-3.3V but can not use for 3.3V to 2.5V.

Please suggest whether we can use the same part PCA9306DCTR for 3.3V-2.5V translation or suggest some other part.

If I check few TI chips (like TXS0102, PCA9306, LSF0102) all have a common point that the VCCA should be less than VCCB.

In our case the MAC that is to be connected to VCCA port is at 3.3V and the PHY that is to be connected at VCCB side is at 2.5V. Seems like we dont have any chips that suffice this requirement.

Hi Vijetha,

Have you considered connecting the PCA9306 the other way around so that the VREF1 side is referenced to 2.5 V and the VREF2 side is referenced to 3.3 V?

Hi,

I found my answer through some other queries in the forum. I had doubts on the MASTER, SLAVE connection (whether the MASTER can be on any side of the chip). I confirmed that we can connect MASTER on any side of chip.
