AM26LS31: increase the output

Hi team，

When using AM26LS32 as a receiver,, how many AM26LS32 can be used by AM26LS31 to increase the output？At present, the customer has used 4pcs and found no problem. The customer wants to know whether it is OK to use 8pcs?

    Hi Amy,

    RS-422 drivers like AM26LS31 are typically intended to drive up to 10 receiver nodes at a time. This is not a hard limit, though, and higher node counts could be achieved in some cases. (Each receiver will add to the loading in parallel, resulting in more current output from the driver. Increases in driver output current cause a reduction in output voltage due to the increased drop across the driver source resistance. The maximum node count should be limited such that the driver output voltage remains large enough to reliably be detected by all receiver nodes.)
