we found out that our proto board has wrong TPS65987D version, there is TPS65987DDJ.

In Device info (0x2f) register there is: TPS65988 HW0030 HW0030 FWF807.12.00 ZAce1.

Customization tool tells that supported devices are:

TPS65981_2_6_7_8 Application Customization Tool

GUI Version : 6.1.1

Date of release : 10th October, 2019

Supported Devices:

TPS65981 : 1.12.09

TPS65982 : 1.12.09

TPS65986 : 1.12.09

TPS65987DDH : F707.10.08

TPS65988DH : F707.10.08

Could this be the reason why SPI flashing is not working? Are these versions compatible F707.10.08 vs. FWF807.12.00 ?

Hi Ajay,

FW FWF807.12(DDJ) wont work on 87/88DDH.

Hi Parajith, here is some other info :-

When looking EVM board more carefully, there is also SPI interface connected to FLASH/TPS (selected using dip switches) – in our board we can only connect FTDI/Aardvark to I2C interface, not to SPI pins. Do we need to connect also SPI pins from FTDI/Aardvark to TPS chip when writing flash?

Hi,

Yes, you need to connect SPI lines of Aardvaark to on board SPI flash to program it using GUI.

But is it so that we could make own tool to update flash image via TPS i2c bus (as described in https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slvae21a/slvae21a.pdf) ?

GUI configuration tool just doesn’t support that?
