TUSB1310 with Altera FPGA

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1310

Hi,

I am planning to interface TUSB1310 (USB3.0 PHY)  with Altera's FPGA DE-115

Could you please suggest the possible solutions?

 Thank you.

Regards

Michael

  • Michael,

PLDA has a development kit available that has the TUSB1310 and an ALTERA FPGA on board - the SuperUSBC3-55.

  • Their price is too expensive.. i am looking for alternative solution. is there any other?
is there an IP for USB3.0 in altera de-115 that you know of?

  • I do not know, that is a question for either the IP companies such as PLDA, Synopsys, GDA Tech, SLS, o rEvatronix or for Altera themselves.

  • Hi DHarmon,

Basically, i just want to find out if it is possible to interface Normal 0 false false false EN-US ZH-CN X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 TUSB1310 with an ALTERA FPGA DE2-115 board.
I need to know if it is possible before i go all out. And if it is possible, how difficult is it to get it to talk to a PC without the help of IP cores?

Btw, this is my senior capstone design project.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Michael

  • Michael,

I'll handle the last part first:  And if it is possible, how difficult is it to get it to talk to a PC without the help of IP cores?

The simple answer is NO.  Every USB device consists of at least two sections (1) the physical electrical layer and  (2) the digital core.  The TUSB1310 is only the physical layer.  The IP core has to be in the FPGA inorder to make a USB device.

As to whether it will work with the Altera development kit - I really have no experience with that board, so can not comment, again I would suggest asking Altera.
