DS90UB954-Q1: UB954 ESD contact test

Hi Team

I got a problem while ESD contact test,FPD Link get fail ,no video show up.(maybe some radiation issue combined like this)

The system is 954 connect to 953 through BNC connector and coaxial cable with POC 24Vdc (BNC is DIP type)

I'm understand good shielding is necessary ,so the trace between UB954 pin and BNC connector ,routing on an inner layer is better than routing on the layer same with UB954 ?

In datasheet ,Layout example shows Differential Signal Traces routing on inner layer ,and POC example routing on outer layer

I wonder know is single end trace can routing like differential signal on inner layer for reduce ESD impact reason ? (UD954 is near by BNC connetor)

Hi Larson,

If using coax configuration, route RX+ and RX- with differential, loosely coupled (S > 3W) 100ohm ±10% traces. Terminate RX- near the connector and switch RX+ to 50ohm single-ended trace.

RX+ and RX- routing on inner layer is OK?

Datasheet example is on top layer ,so I want know on inner is OK too? (for POC&single end applicant )

Hi Larson,

Inner layer should be okay too. Just make sure the traces are following the impedance requirements.
