TLK2711-SP: LOSING COMMAS; DUPLICATED DATA RECEIVED

Part Number: TLK2711-SP

Good Morning,

I have seen the following behaviour working with the TLK2711-SP.

I am sending two /K28.5/D5.6/ (0xC5BC) with KMSB= '0' and KLSB = '1' in a row to perform the data alignment. From time to time (every 2-3 seconds) I am receiving just one comma (1 cycle of RX_clock) and then I am receiving the expected data but repeated. As an example:

Sended:   /K28.5/D5.6/K28.5/D5.6/D0.0/D0.1/...

Received: /K28.5/D5.6/D0.0/D0.0/D0.1/...

My WER (Word error rate) is in the order of 10exp(-9)

Is that an expected behaviour of TLK2711? Is it produced by some kind of elastic buffer within the TLK? By the way, I am using a Engineering model part.

Thank you and Best Regards,

Germán Coronado

  • Hi German,

1). Is there any possibility that we might have overshoot or undershoot on TXSMB, TXLSB or TXCLK? I am wondering if there is some type of ringing that may cause the device to transmit D0.0 twice. This ringing could be due to reflections/impedance control on these signals.

2). Also, can you please put scope on TXCLK and measure jitter? Given 1E-9, i am wondering if we may be operating with a very low margin.

3). Another point is to measure power supply noise - after jitter measurement.

4). In general, it is a good idea to get production parts samples. So please go ahead and order production part samples. You may want to do this before you run the above experiments.

    Regards,, Nasser

  • Good Morning Nasser,

I have solved the problem. Nothing related to the TX side or TLK .The thing is I was not driving the RX recovered clock properly.

    Thank you and Best Regards,
