HD3SS215: HD3SS215 AC CAP position question

Part Number: HD3SS215

Hello team,

I found the capacitor is located before or after Swtich, is there any difference between the position of the capacitor? which one is recommended?

Thanks in advacne.

  • Hi,

    1. The HD3SS215 common mode voltage (Vcm) is 0 to 3.3V. If the source and the sink common mode voltage meets the HD3SS215 common mode voltage requirement, then it is better to place the AC caps between the HD3SS215 and the external connector.

    2. If the source common mode voltage does not meet the HD3SS215 commom mode voltage requirement but sink does, then AC caps should be placed between the source and the HD3SS215 to block the source common mode voltage and let the sink sets the HD3SS215 common mode voltage (block diagram #1).

    3. If the sink common mode voltage does not meet the HD3SS215 common mode voltage requirement but source does, then AC caps should be placed between the sink and the HD3SS215 to block the sink common mode voltage and let the source sets the HD3SS215 common mode voltage (block diagram #2).

    4. If both the source and the sink common mode voltage does not meet the HD3SS215 common mode voltage requirement, then caps should be placed on both sides of the HD3SS215 and an external bias network is needed to set the HD3SS215 common mode voltage with the bias network voltage sets between 0 to 3.3V.

    Thanks

    David
