Hi team,

My customer is using TUSB1210 and they would like to switch mode from host mode to device mode using HNP(Host Negotiation Protocol).

Then, they provided some questions as follows

Is anything setting necessary for register?
The customer is assuming that ID pin is fixed L with pull-down.
When switching to device mode using HNP, is changing logic for ID pin needed?

ID pin should be floating for TUSB1210, when connecting a cable, the end with ID pin ground become host and the other end with ID pin floating become device.

Thanks for your reply.

The customer would like to set the product which use TUSB1210 as host at normal operation using TypeA(not micro/mini) connector.

But only at shipment inspection, they would like to set the product /PC as device/host respectively by converting connector from TypeA to TypeB of product side and jumper setting of ID pin.

If TUSB1210 set as host accidentally when connecting to PC, then both of them will behave as host and signal might collision.

In this case, it doesn't cause any damage to TUSB1210(just communication doesn't work properly). Is this understanding correct?

Hi Brian,

If it will not damage the device, could you please explain how does TUSB1210 protect itself when D+/D- collision occur under both device is used as host mode?

as long as signal is within recommended working condition, it will not damage device. Functional fail is different issue when both host connected.
