Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP, USB2ANY
hi
Eye diagram is shown in the photo does not look very good, is there any suggestions?
Eye height below 600mv is the normal range, right? (Based on 100ohm)

Update~
I refer to TI 964 EVM circuit diagram and have the following problems:
1. Should R78 and C84 be changed to unmount? I think other suggested routes are not loaded.
2. Is it necessary to change R74 to 49.9ohm?
Will the above affect the eye diagram?
Is there anything else that needs to be updated?
I currently follow TI 964 EVB SCH.

Hi Ben,
What type and length of cable are you using? How are you measuring the eye? Are you seeing lock issues? I suggest looking at the eye diagram from the CMLOUT pins.
I would suggest leaving R78 and C84 DPN and changing R78 to 49.9ohm.

Hi Ben,
Can you run the margin analysis tool on the 964? Have you tried a different/ shorter cable?

Jiashow
Hi Ben,
The Analog LaunchPad is a free software you can download here: https://www.ti.com/tool/ALP

Hi Ben,
The Margin Analysis tool (https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/snlu243/snlu243.pdf?ts=1595341459548&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F) can be used on all the systems with ALP.
Could you also clarify your issues? Are you seeing lock instability? What type of 15m cable are you using? Do you have the insertion / return loss data of the cable?
Best,
Jiashow
Hello,
Do you have a USB2ANY(https://www.ti.com/tool/USB2ANY) or Aardvark? You can use those to interact with our ALP.
Do you have the insertion loss data for the cable?
Hi Ben,
What does the RESULT mean? -13.57db insertion loss at 3GHz? Is there a plot over frequencies?

Jiashow
hi
Can any USB to I2C solution be used? Or are they bound to specific chips?
Is this ok?
Hello Ben,
Only USB2ANY or Aardvark have been qualified for running the GUI
