Hi Expert,

I have a new project that needs two CAN solution.

Could you recommend the solutions for CAN(1Mbps) and CAN FD(5Mbps)?

1. CAN(1Mbps) => (controller? + transceiver?) => If want to meet CANJ1939/OBD-II, is there anything I need to notice?

2. CAN FD(5Mbps) => (controller? + transceiver?) or (TCAN4550-Q1?)

    Hi Devin,

    I think in both cases the main decision to make is whether you need the controller.  If the CAN controller is already implemented in (for example) an MCU you are using then you could just use a simple transceiver device like TCAN1042-Q1 or TCAN1044-Q1,  (Note that CAN FD has additional requirements on the controller, so the controller must be FD-capable for FD applications; a classical-CAN controller could not be used.)  If you needed a controller, though, you should pick either TCAN4550-Q1 or TCAN4551-Q1.  All of these devices would be compatible with J1939 since its physical layer implementation is specified consistently with ISO 11898.
