DS90UB948-Q1: GND Isolation Connection

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

Hi Expert,

In my customer's application, in order to increase the EMC performance of the system, the customer is willing to isolate 948 ground(VSS) and the board ground(GND) using a ferrite. Is this recommended by TI?

One more question, if they isolate the ground, for the high speed FPD-link connector(as shown below), we should connect this ground to VSS or GND?

  • Hello,

    1. both are ok for us, but the EMC performance is dependent on your system-level design such as GND size etc., generally it is not recommended to isolate the i/f GND and on-board GND.

    2. it is better if you can isolate the connector GND with on-board GND, and FPD-link chip can use the same on-board GND as we suppose the EMC noise is injected into FPD-Link chip through external GND.
