DS90UH949A-Q1: Serial Link Fault Detect

Part Number: DS90UH949A-Q1

Hello FPD team,

My customer is interested in link fault detection of DS90UH949A-Q1.

It is mentioned it can detect Cable open  by reading Link Detect Status in 0x0C in the Datasheet.

To detect cable open by reading this register, both + and - pin should be open? Or, it can detect open of any of one pin?

Could there be any coupled signal from normal pin to the opened pin in case of only one pin opened?

Thank you.

  • Hi Kenneth,

The link detection status register reports if there is any of the P or N pin open. For example, if any of the P and N pin is opened, the sensing circuit break which mean there will no voltage feeding back to the ADC. In result, the ADC read in the range from 0 to 11 which indicates an open.

No, this consider as short to + or - pin.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Aaron

  • Hello Aaron,

    Thank you for your answer.

I have further questions but specific to customer and need to share customer schematic.

Let me communicate further by email.
