TCA8418: No response when key pressed after randomly and quickly click keypad for a while

Part Number: TCA8418

Dear team,

Customer faced to a random issue about no response when key pressed. One of their test item is randomly and quickly click keypad for 3mins~10mins.

During this test, we cannot get key pressed data back from TCA8418. Only if set interrupt bit to 1, and issue can be fixed.

Customer are worry about if FIFO is overflow or not.

- Any idea about how to fix this issue and the root cause?

- If this is FIFO overflow, can we reset it? How to check FIFO data is overflow or not?

- I found someone faced to similar issue as my customer. https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/f/138/t/875687?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=TCA8418%20press%20quickly

Have you fixed this issue already?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Ben

  • Hey Ben,

Can you share how you configured the registers?

Can we also see a schematic?

"During this test, we cannot get key pressed data back from TCA8418."

Do you mean, you go to read the event A register and no value is there?

Lastly, just to confirm, are you using the NON-E version of the device?

  • Hi Bobby,

Could you cantact me offline? Since schematic is confidential, i would like to share with you via mail. <benkuo@ti.com>

    please find my feedback here.

    - Schematic/ register setting --> share with you off-line

    - Customer use non-E version

"During this test, we cannot get key pressed data back from TCA8418."

    - >>>  no any response for the key pressed event. When user click keypad, there are no interrupt signal to info host to read key data.

    Regards,

    Ben
