TUSB4020BI: Can I use one DB9 connector and one USB 2.0 at the Output of TUSB4020?

Hello Geeks,

I want to design one adapter using TUSB4020 as per my requirement I want one USB2.0 port and other one is DB9 Connector. Can I connect DB9 at the one port of the output.

If yes kindly help me with the design suggestions.

Any help in this case would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Vismita,

Are you planning on using USB across the DB9 connector? This is possible but not compliant to the USB specification. If you want proper RS232 on the DB9 connector you should use TUSB3410 on the downstream port of the TUSB4020BI.

Hello Malik,

I have checked the datasheet of TUSB3410 and also go through the schematic provided in the datasheet. As per the datasheet TUSB3410 is interfaced with SN75LV4737A, instead of SN75 can I connect TUSB3410 with the TUSB4020BI and then DB9 Connector?

Hi Vismita,

I hope the below clarifies the way these devices should be connected.

TUSB4020B (DS port) -> TUSB3410 USB Side (US port) -> TUSB3410 UART -> SN75LV4737A (Or other RS232 line driver) -> DB9 connector.
