TPS65983B: How to download TPS65983B Firmware?

Hi,

I am developing through Thunderbolt Reference schematics.(Tapex Creek TI83)

In the reference, the SPI port on the TPS65983B is connected to 8Mbit Flash.

What I understood through the guide is to download firmware to 8Mbit flash through USB to SPI.

Is there any way to download firmware through Thunderbolt port?

Hi,

An external device may access and update the SPI flash when TPS65983B is not accessing or booting. For the Tapex Creek TI83B design, Titan Ridge also has a connection to the SPI flash and may perform this function.

Hi,

I understand that TPS65983B works after receiving the boot code from host device(JHL7440).

Is there a program available to update through external devices? Should I ask Intel for this?

Hi Junsu,

When a discrete Thunderbolt part is used, the PD and TBT device can share flash and load a merged binary. The merge is done by the Imaginarium2 software from Intel. The TI tools only supply the binary in this case.
