TRS3223E: about spec in datasheet

Part Number: TRS3223E

Hi TI,

I have two questions about TRS3223E.

1. How to handle the not-used RINx / ROUTx / DINx / DOUTx pins? Can I connect them to GND?

2. Datasheet shows the voltage at Dout pin is -13.2V-13.2V, if this pin is shorted to 16V battery, will it cause damaget to the device?

  • Hello,

Unused DIN pins should be tied low (to GND) or high (to VCC).  Unused RIN could be left floating (disconnected) or could be tied to GND.  Unused DOUT and ROUT pins could be left floating.

Since the absolute maximum voltage rating on the DOUT pin is 13.2 V, exposure to higher voltages like 16 V could result in damage.  If this is an application-level need, it is best to implement some protection circuitry (such as a Zener/TVS voltage clamp at DOUT and series current-limiting resistance) in order to limit the stress seen by the IC.
