Hi.

My customer is developing cc controller using TUSB321AI and HD3SS3212IRKST.

But the following issues occurred.

1) Operates only in UFP mode
2) Normal operation when using USB type C to USB type C cable
When using a USB type C to USB type A cable, the operation differs depending on the direction of the USB type C connector.
When connecting to the USB type C top side: Recognized as USB 3.0
When connecting the USB type C bottom side: Recognized as USB 2.0
CC1, CC2, and SEL ports operate normally

I need help with this issue.

Please review the attached circuit diagram.

Does DIR change state when you try flipping the cable to different orientations?

Can you share the correct Dir waveform when connecting the A to C cable?

Hi Robin,

I do not have a waveform to share but I suspect that TUSB321 is acting correctly however the cable used has Rd on both CC pin causing DIR to not change state. This will prevent HD3SS3212 from change directions appropriately and prevent USB 3 in communication when the connector is flipped.
