Hi team,

For the TPS65987 I don't understand the PP_CABLE power pin requirements.

Does this require a 5V input? If my design is not using any e-marked cable, can I leave it unpowered or supply it with 3.3V instead?

Hi Don,

We recommend connecting it to 5V. VCONN is used to power active cables, e-markers, and various VCONN powered devices also require it. You will also need 5V on VCONN if you will be providing a contract higher than 3A of current.

You could connect it to 3.3V but the functionality may be limited.
